Rack Attack Team
Ready to hit the water and paddle but you want to take your bike with you too? A roof mounted kayak carrier and roof mounted bike rack could be just the solution you need to get you to and from your boat launch. This customer had a 2007 Toyota Camry 4 Door and instead of the standard Thule base roof rack system installation they sided with a permanent drill in track application for maximum versatility and weight rating.
What is required to make this same installation work for you? Here are the components and note that this same installation can work on almost any vehicle granted you are prepared to drill holes in your roof.
- Thule 42" Tracks with Flare Nuts
- Thule TK1 Tracker Kit
- Thule 430R Rapid Aero Foot Pack
- Thule RB47 Rapid Load Bars
- Thule 517 Peloton
- Thule Xadapt9 - mounts the Peloton to the Rapid Aero Bars
- Thule 835XTR Hullaport
- Thule 6 Pack Lock Cores
First line up your tracks and mark the mounting hole locations. Then drill in to your roof to provide attachment points for your Thule 42" Tracks with Flare Nuts. You are then ready to attach your Thule TK1 Tracker Kit, Thule 430R Rapid Aero Foot Pack, and your Thule RB47 Rapid Load Bars. This creates a sliding base roof rack system that gives you a maximum weight capacity of 165lbs.
From here you are free to mount any Thule accessories, but in this case they went with the Thule 835XTR Hullaport and Thule 517 Peloton in tandem.
