Rack Attack Team
Here at Rack Attack Minneapolis our evenings tend to get pretty quiet on the weekdays, but every once in a while a Rackie will show up at the last minute with a need for a rack. On this particular evening the sun was just beginning to set on a slow day when in walked this customer with thoughts of an upcoming bike trip.
After briefly considering the options he went for the obvious choice for his Infiniti FX35 SUV with factory side rails, Thule Rapid Crossroad towers (AKA Thule 450R towers.) The Thule Aero bars' sleek design complement this fine vehicle's aerodynamic features and the cool design makes any vehicle look like something out of the next century.
Since this Rackie was looking to mount a couple of high end bikes on his roof he decided on the Thule Sidearm bike carrier in order to provide the greatest amount of stability with minimal impact on the bike itself. The aluminum trays ensure the carrier will remain rust free even if exposed to inclement weather, and with two locks per carrier the security of your bikes is almost guaranteed.
You will note that both bike carrier are facing forward because we took the time to switch the driver side carrier arm so that it is accessible from the driver's side (without having to reach around your bike to unlock it) which is a little time consuming, but relatively easy to accomplish.
With all of these components installed this Infiniti FX35 is ready for any day trip this bike Rackie wants to tackle. Since the Thule Sidearm bike carriers are fairly narrow with the arms on the outside of the vehicle this Rackie could add one of Thule's narrower cargo carriers (like the Atlantis 1200) and be ready for a multi-night bike tour as well! With all of this variability why wouldn't anyone want such a sweet rack on the top of their vehicle?! Until next time, Rackies!
