Q: Can my roof rack carry the weight of a tent with people in it?

A: There are two different weight ratings when it comes to your roof rack. The first is the "dynamic" weight limit. This is what your roof rack can carry while you're driving around. For most cars (this does NOT include clip on/door jam racks) this weight limit is around 165 lbs, just enough to carry a tent. These same racks typically hold upwards of 500 lbs of static weight. So it's fine for you to get up into your tent while the vehicle is parked.

Q: How many people can this tent actually sleep?

A: Same as ground tents, the occupancy number of a tent is typically high by one. A three person rooftop tent is just slightly larger in width than a double/standard mattress. While it's fully possible to fit three people into one you're going to have a much easier time getting some sleep with only two. Same goes for a 4-person tent: it's best with a maximum of three people.

Q: How easy is this tent to set up and take down?

A: Simply put: dead simple. Setting up this rooftop tent is so easy you can do it alone in the dark in minutes.

Q: How long does it take to set the tent up?

A: Once it’s on the Roof, it takes about 2 minutes to take the cover off, one minute to unfold the tent, and about 5 minutes to set up the rainfly poles.

Q: Putting the rainfly on is time-consuming, and hard to take off without touching the roof.

A: As for rainfly poles, yes it can be challenging on high vehicles. But we recommend installing them from the inside, reaching through the windows. This makes it easy to access and can prevent accidental springing of poles into the face should one slip from the users grasp.

Q: The cover is pretty tight, and not easy to put on.

A: The cover is pretty tight on tolerance. We found that loose fabric can take a beating and eventually fatigue and tear with repeated highway use. We really do not want that cover to flap around.

Q: Is it Waterproof?

A: Please make sure the all know & understand that this is not a 4 season tent. Monsoon rains can be a problem just like they would with a 3 season back packing tent. The fly is water proof, the body is resistant. One can easily spray down the body with a water repellant product to increase the water-proofness.

Q: How is the assembly?

A: About an hour’s worth of work, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! It is pretty easy to put the rack attachment assembly on the wrong way, as there are a number of different ways to set the tent up. The easy way to ensure it is orientated correctly, is that the lock-cores should on the outside, under where the tent folds out.

Q: How Tall a Vehicle can it be put on?

A: Depends on the size of the TENT, 3 Person will extend to 98”, and the 2 Person will do 86”.
